At the 2019 Cambridge Spring Festival Gala held at the Cambridge Corn Exchange recently, "Listen to the Song from Our Hometown" was sung by Chinese students studying at the University of Cambridge.

According to Gu Chang, a Chinese student who composed the song: "During the Lunar New Year period, those of us who study overseas suffer homesickness. Therefore, I believe it's good to have a song to cheer us up."

Gu composed this song at the invitation of the Spring Festival Gala's crew of the directors.

Speaking about how the students feel, Guo Dawei, a Chinese student pursuing a doctoral degree at Cambridge, who contributed to the lyrics, says: "Usually, we are quite busy with academic work during the Lunar New Year period, but we try to create a festive atmosphere.

"I hope those who celebrate the Lunar New Year overseas can feel the warmth of the homeland when they hear this song.

"And we hope that China will be stronger and better at the 70th anniversary of its founding this year."
