Chinese ink painting was introduced to Japan during the Edo period, and the style evolved over the years.

Over the past 36 years, the Beijing Fine Art Academy and the Southern Painting Academy of Japan have held 10 joint exhibitions to boost classic ink art exchanges between the two countries.

The latest show is being held at the gallery in the Beijing Fine Art Academy, where visitors will be updated about ink painting.

The exhibition, which runs through Dec 24, also marks the 40th anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship.
