Li Xinnian, from Qipan town, Shaanxi province, is only 13 years old, but he has taken on the burden of helping the family because his father got sick. At the age of 12, Wu Yuyang, who goes to a central elementary school in Haifeng town, Heilongjiang province, also became the "main pillar" of his family as his parents and grandparents lost the ability to work.

Gao Yiyuan, who was studying in Baotou No 6 Middle School in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, disinfects the house several times a day to help her mother, who suffers from leukemia, stay healthy.

Li Xiaoyan, a girl from Taoshan village, Sichuan province, carries her grandmother on her back, walking through the rugged mountain roads to the outside, just like what her grandma did for her when she was young.

Huo Peixin of Dongchangshou Village Primary School in Jinzhong, Shanxi province, was seriously ill, but he was optimistic, helping his mother to sell cakes while he was on crutches.

Sisters from Henan province Chen Kunyang, 12, and Chen Zongyang, 14, spent three years "waking up" and teaching their mother, who lost her memories, to speak and read.

The girls and boys are not afraid of life's difficulties and explain the meaning of filial piety with their practices. With optimistic attitudes and tender shoulders, they carry the hopes of their families, and were applauded at the award ceremony.
